Special Formulae
When is it a good idea to give HiPP Anti-Reflux Organic Special Formula?
Many babies spit up a little food with a burp after a meal. This is completely normal and should be no cause for alarm, as long as your baby is happy and is growing and thriving.
However, if your baby burps or spits up frequently, and you are worried about your baby’s progress, please contact your paediatrician. They can clarify whether special formula, such as HiPP Anti-Reflux Organic Special Formula makes sense for your child.
HiPP Anti-Reflux Organic Special Formula contains added locust bean gum. This natural bulking agent makes the formula particularly thick and ensures that it stays in the stomach better. The reflux in the oesophagus is therefore reduced (anti-reflux).
In principal, special formulae should only be given under medical supervision.
For which children is HiPP Comfort Special Formula intended?
Babies’ intestines are still very sensitive in the first few months. Stomach-intestinal complaints such as wind, colic or constipation are not rare. We know from experience that intimacy with your baby, a calm daily routine, stomach massages and burping all help to cope with digestive disorders. Most digestive disorders disappear by themselves.
In the event of constipation, you should be careful to use the correct dosage of formula.
If your baby suffers from frequent digestive disorders coupled with excessive crying, special formula could help give relief.
HiPP Comfort Special Formula’s special composition regulates digestion, loosens the stool and can therefore help with wind and constipation.
Your paediatrician can tell you whether HiPP Comfort Special Formula is advisable. Special formulae should be given under medical supervision only.
Are HiPP Special Formulae suitable for children at risk of developing allergies?
The two HiPP special formulae have different functions in this respect:
HiPP Comfort Special Formula is suitable for the prevention of allergies because of its broken down protein components.
The HiPP Anti-Reflux Organic Special Formula works differently.
It contains one intact protein and should therefore not be given to babies at risk of developing allergies during the first half year of life. This is because babies at risk of developing allergies, according to official recommendations, should only be fed breast milk and/or hydrolysed (= broken down) protein.
Please speak to your paediatrician about the situation and course of action.
My baby vomits and has wind: Which formula can you recommend?
If your child has digestive problems and alos spits up frequently, then you should really talk to your paediatrician about it. He/She knows your baby and can best assess and decide which formula is best for your child. Usually, the digestive symptoms need treating first, but each case must be assessed individually.
Can I combine HiPP Special Formulae with HiPP Infant Formulae?
In principle it is possible to combine HiPP Special Formulae with HiPP Infant Formulae. Whether this makes sense, is for your paediatrician to decide and they can make a recommendation.
It should be taken into consideration that alleviation from complaints such as wind, constipation or increased spitting up can be attained thanks to the respective special composition of the formulae. A child who is frequently spitting up can be helped by the especially thick and creamy HiPP Anti-Reflux Organic Special Formula which reduces the reflux of food in the oesophagus. If, for the next meal, normal infant formula is used, then you will not get the required effect.
